President, Young Lawyers Division
|

On behalf of the Young Lawyers Division (YLD) of the Monroe County Bar
Association, please allow me to welcome you. Our group consists of nearly 50
attorneys who either have not yet reached age thirty-eight (38) or have been
in practice less than five (5) years. We are committed to bettering our
community and our profession. Each year we participate in a number of community services. During the fall we sponsor Project Kid Care where parents are provided with a free photo and identification booklet for use if their child is ever missing. In conjunction with that we also host Wills for Heroes, which provides free living wills, wills, and power of attorney documents to local first responders, including firemen/women, police officers and EMT crews.
In December, we work with Monroe County’s Red Cross and sponsor
a major Blood Drive. For more information on any of these projects please check the website in the coming months.
This year we also have ambitious plans for helping
our members reach the peak of the legal profession.
We plan on organizing and presenting continuing legal
education courses, including some focused upon
electronic legal research. We have applied for a
grant from the American Bar Association which will
allow us to host a series of educational programs
with our local judges. We also have plans in the work
for a young lawyer to young lawyer mentoring program.
Finally, we plan on hosting a number of social events
which will allow members to network and get better
acquainted with one another.
Before concluding, please allow me to say that your
input is greatly appreciated. Whether you are a
member of the YLD or a member of the community, if
you have any suggestions for future projects, please
contact the bar association.
