The
Monroe County Bar Foundation was established in February 2004 by the Board of
Directors of the Monroe County Bar Association. It serves as the charitable,
giving arm of the Association and grew naturally out of the years of care, concern
and contributions which Monroe County lawyers have dedicated to improving the
lives of local children.
Charged with fostering, promoting and carrying on education, literary scientific
and charitable purposed, the members of the Foundation's Board of Trustees work
to assure that Monroe County's children have opportunities and resources which
can assist them to thrive and develop into adults who will respect the law and
enhance our community with their own unique talents and abilities.

Helps Children to Keep Smiling
The Monroe County Bar Foundation recently donated $4,000 to the Valerie M. Hodge
Memorial Endowment Fund for the Abeloff Children's Dental Center. The Hodge
family created the endowment fund in memory of Valerie; the late ESU Vice President
of Student Affairs, to ensure continued funding for the pediatric Dental Center.
The Center offers dental services for children who are uninsured or underinsured.
On hand to present the dental clinic with the check from the Foundation were
Attorneys Mark S. Love and Alex L. Bensinger.
"The Monroe County Bar Foundation is proud to support the Valerie M. Hodges
Endowment for the Children's Dental Center which provides dental care to Monroe
County children who otherwise could not afford these services," says Foundation
Chair, Rebecca Young, Esq.
"The exposure to good dental care early on is crucial to a child's overall
health and development because it is essential that attitudes and habits are
formed at a very young age to maintain a healthy oral care routine that lasts
a lifetime," said Young.
The funds were raised at an art show (see details below) featuring fourteen
Monroe County artists. Members of the Monroe County Bar Association and the
general public were invited to attend the art show and many local businesses
sponsored advertisements in the show program. The "Showing of Fine Art"
was held at the Monroe County Bar Association Bar Center on September 14, 2007.
Members, and friends of the Monroe County Bar Association, provided musical
entertainment.
