 The internet provides an abundance of information in various areas to seniors who have access to a computer. Even if one does not own a computer, a library or senior center can accommodate the information seeker. The following Web sites are particularly beneficial for seniors:

Social Security Administration at
www.ssa.gov: provides:
• A series of retirement calculators that allow workers to estimate the SS benefits at age 62, at full retirement, and at age 70
• Information on SS, disability and survivor benefits
• Tax changes that affect SS beneficiaries and Medicare

Administration on Aging at
www.aoa.dhhs.gov provides information designed for older Americans and their families on topics such as long term care, elder abuse and health care

On June 14, 2001, Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA) was renamed Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). A new, user-friendly website has been developed at www.cms.hhs.gov. The website offers valuable resources and information on all of the the Agency's programs, initiatives, and priorities.

It provides:
• An overview of the health care options under the Medicare Plus program basics about Medicare and Medicaid
• Information about choosing a Medigap supplemental insurance policy
• The Medicare Intermediary-Carrier Directory which shows state-by-state the various carriers contracted by HCFA to administer Part A and Part B of Medicare, home health care, durable medical equipment, etc.

Internal Revenue Service at www.irs.ustreas.gov includes current and past tax forms, publications and tax information for individuals and businesses. The site also provides updates on issues that might affect taxpayers.
