Mock Trial

For over eighteen years, the Monroe County Bar Association has sponsored a Mock Trial Invitational in which local high schools are invited to participate. The event takes place in November of each year. Attorneys volunteer to work with a group of students, and along with their teacher advisors, help to prepare students for the competition. The local competition prepares participants for the Pennsylvania Bar Association's Young Lawyers Division  (YLD) Statewide Mock Trial Competition in February and March.

Important Update to Stipulated Facts
At a pretrial conference held on November 8, 2007, the attorney for the Commonwealth disclosed that officer Wertz told him that the defendant admitted to driving the car. This admission was made after the defendant's arraignment on May 1st. Office Wertz forgot to put this in his/her affidavit. The court ruled that the disclosure was timely and that the statement of Lewis would be admissible at trial, subject to cross examination. This ruling over rides any Mock Trial Rules to the contrary.
