Fairy Tale Trials Local area fifth grade students are invited to attend a fairy tale mock trial at the Monroe County Courthouse. Each year local attorneys present a "fairy tale" trial to over 500 youngsters. Many disreputable characters have been tried on Law Day over the past years including the Big Bad Wolf, Pokemon and Darth Vader. 2007 Fairy Tale Trial Case: COMMONWEALTH v HOOD Criminal Theft Action ROBIN HOOD BACKGROUND This mock trial is based upon the legend of Robin Hood, but updated to modern times. This is a criminal case because we find the kids understand "guilty" and not guilty" better than they do comparative negligence. Robin Hood is charged with theft, and has an interesting "defense" to throw upon the jury. John Prince should testify first about the theft and how it occurred. Next the Sheriff gives testimony as to how he caught Robin. Defense will call Marian to talk about how terrible John Prince is and finally our star witness Robin Hood is called on for his account of things.
